The wedding
Kardamyli is at the northern edge of the Mani, where the Taygetos mountains meet the sea and the landscape changes from the green Messenian coast to the rocky land of the deep Mani. The village has kept its character, with a medieval tower settlement above the port, olive groves, Byzantine chapels, and a waterfront that has hardly changed in years. It’s a place best explored slowly and on foot.
Line and Tom travelled from Norway with their children and a small group of friends who understood how to share a place together.
The civil ceremony took place at the town hall in Kardamyli. Afterwards, the celebration moved to Dioskouri, a small venue in the village that set the tone for the day: relaxed, intimate, and genuine. In the afternoon, we walked to the small port, where Line and Tom's children jumped into the water from the harbour wall. The evening party continued at Kastro, above the village, with the Mani coastline in the background.
Our approach
Kardamyli is best explored on foot. The medieval settlement, the small port, and the paths to Agia Sofia cannot be fully understood from a car or a map. We arrived early and walked through the places that would matter: the harbour wall, the old village's tower houses, and the way the late afternoon light touched the stone.Before the wedding day, we met with Line and Tom to understand their plans. The wedding had a civil ceremony, a small celebration, and a party at Kastro restaurant just outside the village. Very intimate, surrounded by friends and family. The photography matched that feeling.The day after, we went through the medieval village without the pressure of the wedding around it. The tower houses and narrow lanes of Ano Kardamyli, Agia Sofia, and the old teloneio building at the port, photographed before its restoration had begun.
