Wedding video Hydra – The wedding of Evi & Amédée

Our wedding video complements our wedding photography. And we always like to reveal a story. The unseen. One that highlights details, that otherwise would be forgotten. One that reveals a different perspective each time you revisit your imagery.

So, for Evi and Amédée the question was: What if?

What if we had the ability to relive a day in our past
to travel backwards in time
to feel that special moment again

Their wedding took place in Hydra. Built in the shape of an amphitheatre on a slope overlooking the Argosaronic gulf, Hydra is one of the most romantic wedding destinations in Greece. Traditional stone mansions, narrow cobblestoned streets, secluded squares. But above all the banning of cars and the use of around 500 donkeys as means of public transportation, explain the reason why Hydra preserved its distinctive atmosphere through the passage of time.

An Island with a strong personality and aesthetics, that kept its special aura through time. A small hint was enough to make them fall in love with the island. A love at first sight, could not keep Amédée and Evi from deciding to get married in Hydra.

Following our preview post, we have prepared a highlight wedding video clip. A beautiful story of beautiful people, with smiles so warm and genuine, smiles with just the right touch of shyness filling us with this unexpected warmth that makes the world seem ever so beautiful.

We once again wish you joy and happiness on this wonderful journey, as you build your lives together.

Wedding photography Hydra – The wedding of Evi & Amédée

Wedding photography is a challenge for us. And we always like to reveal a story. The unseen. One that highlights details, that otherwise would be forgotten. One that reveals a different perspective each time you revisit your imagery.

So, for Evi and Amédée the question was: What if ?

But above all the banning of cars and the use of around 500 donkeys as means of public transportation, explain the reason why Hydra preserved its distinctive atmosphere through the passage of time.

An Island with a strong personality and aesthetics, that kept its special aura through time. A small hint, was enough to make them fall in love with the island. A love at first sight, could not keep Amédée and Evi from deciding to get married in Hydra.

Following our preview post, we prepared a storytelling presentation of their wedding album, a story of all that happened during these three days of their wedding in Hydra. A beautiful story of beautiful people, with smiles so warm and genuine, smiles with just the right touch of shyness filling us with this unexpected warmth that makes the world seem ever so beautiful.

We once again wish you, joy and happiness on this wonderful journey, as you build your lives together.

Visual Storytellers // The Wedding Shoes – Just Imagine

Visual Storytellers //

The Wedding Shoes

It all probably started with Cinderella. Or maybe not. But shoes have escaped boxes and closets and have become a passion an obsession and a fetish.

Imagine their importance out of everyday life in the context of the most important day in your life. The day you join paths with your own prince and take your place by his side.

That will transform a seemingly plain photo into a fairy tale. It will reveal the expectation, the frustration and the deduction behind your choice. It will highlight your taste.

Imagine. They started off untouched, unmoved, lying carelessly, or not, in the middle of the room. Waiting to be done – or undone. Beauty untouched, unblemished and still. And they had a dream. To become the dream of a girls personal story, to wander around, to dance her away to lead her to her destiny. To be tied from your father’s trembling hands, to guide you through the tears of your loved ones. To be filled with your girlfriends’ names. Fairies that stood by you as guardian angels, through troubles and joy. And you know as the Greek tradition demands,  you as the bride, have to write the names of your friends that are not married yet to the soles of your new wedding shoes. Those that will be erased by your steps through the church aisle, your first dance and the wild party, will get married! :-)

// Welcome to our world of Storytelling

Look through our eyes, the essence of the worn soles of these exquisite shoes is to have visioned her dancing through time. And we can see written lyrics of a so familiar song she whispers and this makes us smile. We hum along.

There are so many ways to interpret your vision of each moment. It is all a matter of mindset, workflow and aesthetics. It is all about what you chose to see out of what is happening around you

Images from the heart.

Yiannis & Yianna Wedding, The Cats’ Wedding in Symi Island | Wedding Photographer Symi

s.Yiannis & Yianna Wedding, The Cats’ Wedding in Symi Island | Wedding Photographer Symi

Two Cats

One up a tree
One under the tree
The cat up a tree is he
The cat under the tree is she
The tree is witch elm, just incidentally.
He takes no notice of she, she takes no notice of he.
He stares at the woolly clouds passing, she stares at the tree.
There’s been a lot written about cats, by Old Possum, Yeats and Company.
But not Alfred de Musset or Lord Tennyson or Poe or anybody
Wrote about one cat under, and one cat up, a tree.
God knows why this should be left for me
Except I like cats as cats be
Especially one cat up
And one cat under
A witch elm
Tree.

Mid-August. High season for a wedding photographer! Approaching the port of Symi, we had the overwhelming feeling of entering a perfectly painted image of a traditional scenic village. We have to admit we remained agape throughout our stay, unable to resist the superb spectacle of the town stretching its impeccable architecture, where all of the buildings were listed on the slopes of the surrounding hills. The port of Symi looked like it might have been photoshopped, the colours that surrounded us a breathtaking sight. Last but not least. No words could describe the beauty of the sea that surrounds the island where the horizon unfolds until the shores of Turkey.

And yes, there was something definitely going on there. This was the Cats’ Wedding!

What a funkier way to start a wedding than a daily boat cruise around the island. It was an amazing group. There were drinks, good food music and a whole lot of shaking going on. everyone had a ball! Capturing the spirit of the day, we photographed performing acrobatics, onboard, underwater and in the air!

On the day itself, our Cats from Amsterdam, started the day in separate houses, as is traditional. The groom and his men prepared themselves in Pedi, and our bride and her party prepared up in the Horio, the higher village. At a set point in the afternoon, Yianna left the house in a beautiful flowing white gown created by Maria Konidi.

She boarded a specially decorated boat, a caique, a traditional sponge diving boat, to meet Yannis at the church in Pedi led by musicians. The groom was also accompanied by musicians, a slow walk to the church. Of course, there was a lot of “penemata” fοr both… A traditional ritual loyally kept by Yiayia Varvara, the favoured Persona Grata of the event.

A beautiful ceremony took place, where they exchanged their own personal vows before their families and loved ones.

The reception (more a party to remember) was held at Pedi beach hotel overlooking the harbour with its twinkling lights, and the boats coming in and out. Cannot reveal more as  we promise to surprise you with images when the time comes<

Sounds perfect to you? It was for them, and also for us, beautiful images, precious moments, inevitable memories made from the Cats’ wedding, in Simi.

And as we are no ordinary wedding photographers. These are no ordinary cats!

So happy to be part of this wedding, to have felt, to have shared to have captured. We thank you for the fun and the trust. We thank you for sharing genuine smiles, but even more we thank you for the sincere friendship. Our wishes will always be with you.

This is a preview of Yiannis & Yianna, The Cats’ Wedding in Symi

Very much more coming soon!

With love

A Greek – Italian Wedding in Milos by rChive

A perfect afternoon in Milos, with the sounds of happy people in the background, and a bag full of love to get us going. We even got tips on how to drive your italian lover crazy : at some point, during a romantic interlude, just burst into a song with That’s Amore. It still brings a grin on our face.

“Choose the color of a dress after a thousand hesitations, but for God’s sake, get married without reflecting on it! That’s the grace I wish for you. May you even be so distracted that day that you walk past the registry office without remembering to stop there.”

Photo shooting Greek Italian Wedding in Milos,  starring Guiseppe & Aphrodite. An honor, an experience and memories of feelings to last us a lifetime. Now let images speak the truth…

Wedding in Greece – Sifnos by rChive Photography

Wedding in Greece | Sifnos.

“The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship.”

This wedding in Greece is a beautiful wedding to be remembered. After the wedding ceremony in Chrissopigi, Sifnos, there was no way to let this amazing, joyful company escape our cameras. We headed for a small after wedding session near the famous Sifnos church where everyone had a special part to perform, no instructions included.

Everything was captured with us acting as witnesses letting everything evolve naturally.  Maria, Pierre Louis, their best man and bride’s maids decided to seal their vows and promises with a unique dancing ritual. Lucky us!

Guys, there’s a “Higher Love” surrounding you. Being your visual storytellers has been a wonderful experience.

Two Trees
A portion of your soul has been
entwined with mine
A gentle kind of togetherness, while
separately we stand.
As two trees deeply rooted in
separate plots of ground,
While their topmost branches
come together,
Forming a miracle of lace
against the heavens.”

Janet Mills

Amazing people, friends and families from Canada, Greece and England. It was the spirit, it was that magic skateboard that brought out that broad rascal smile that Pierre Louis shared with us each time we hinted on it. Maria, whose beautiful genuine and honest smile constantly overwhelmed us. The most challenging thing about photographing weddings is that all that is beautiful is true and all that is true is beautiful. It is a profound honour for us as photographers to witness two people joining their lives with such love and we were honoured to be their storytellers.

Unique stories in bold. Images that build relationships and make people care. We live to have stories to tell and to learn to tell them well.

Our photography is about you! About your friends and families. It’s about the spirit and the magic that surrounds you.

The most intriguing thing about photographing weddings is that all that is beautiful is true and all that is true is beautiful.

Challenge us!

“Words cannot describe how grateful my husband and I are to have found Angela and Giorgos. Recommended by our amazing wedding planner Vasso Vandali of My Best Wishes Events, we embarked upon a unique journey with the arChive team, starting with the warmth of our first meeting all the way to the smiles and cries of happiness when we saw the final result during a fun-filled presentation at their awesome studio in Athens. The quality of their photos – if you can call them that, to us, they are more like snapshots of heaven – is simply incomparable to anything we have ever seen. Choose arChive photography if you want the most amazing, innovative, unique, fun, honest and absolutely beautiful photos. Choose arChive if you want photographers who are really going to get under your skin and create a completely tailor-made experience that you’re surely going to remember forever (we’re sure we will!). Thank you thank you again Angela and Giorgos for everything!!! Maria & PL, Sifnos”
